Travel Insurance - are you really covered?



It is important to have insurance that covers you for the level of altitude that you will be trekking at. Many standard polices cover you for trekking to high altituides, such as on the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit Trek, but it is very important to check this before you go. Here is a list of insurance companies that we have collected information on (it is your responsibility to confirm that this information correct):

When buying the standard over, please ensure you add the following adventure option:


Trekking up to 6,000 metres - on recognised routes - no cover where ropes, picks or other specialist climbing equipment is required


True Traveller

The Extreme Adventure Pack covers trekking over 4,500m to any altitude


The Adventure Pack covers  trekking to 4,500m


Dog Tag

The SPORTS PLUS option covers you for trekking above 4000m which is suitable for the Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, and Annapurna Base Camp trek.


The SPORT option covers you for under trekking below 4000m.


British Mountaineering Council

The extreme policy is required for trekking over 5000m


The Sport plus is required for trekking upto 5000m
